mother (etta P. wrecks mix)

orig. John Lennon, written after a primal scream session, which is retained at the end in the beautiful and overwhelming recorded version. (Also, here's a great Live Version from Madison Square Garden.)

part of a "mother suite" that I'm working on that consists of songs about mothers. i envision that is a soundtrack for a movie that I've been roiling in the back of my mind for about a year now. the movie is re-telling of the Οἰδίπους tragedy retold on a 1950 Texas/Oklahoma border. needless to say, it involves a star kicker who has a club foot, hits the game-winning field goal at the homecoming game, goes on to become the mayor of his town, gets into a scuffle with the mayor of a neighboring town across the Red River, kills him, falls in love with his wife, has a daughter who eventually has to breast feed his frail body as it withers away into oblivion.

Mother Suite
The End (The Doors)
Mother (Pink Floyd)
Mother (Danzig)
Mama Said (The Shirelles)
Always on the Run (Lenny Kravitz)
Mama Said (Metallica)
Super-Ego (love I.E.D.)
